Comments The image was taken on 30-Dec-2006 and 31-Dec-2006 using a 105mm apochromatic refractor at f/5.6, with an ST-10XME and an Astrodon H-Alpha, OIII, and SII filters with a 60 Angstrom FWHM bandpass.  Click here for more details on the narrowband image of Alnitak and the Horsehead nebula.

The spectrum shows a classic "P Cygni Profile" consisting of a blueshifted absorption overlaying the H-Alpha emission line, suggesting either an expanding gas shell or a stellar wind surrounding the star.
